Meet the Parents of I Litter!
Copper Valley's Glory Be Carly
DOB 7/15/2019 ESC# 6100
Penn Hip: Right DI=.36 Left DI= .35
Normal by pedigree for MDR1, CEA, PRCD, PRA
Cedar Creek Lad: Copper's Light x Old Dance Into My Dreams
Predominant lines: Her Sire: Cedar Creek, Anderson, Butcher and Beebe
Her Dam: Wingler and White Oak lines, Jarratt, Piper, Wilson.
Carly is 20 inches at the shoulder, very muscular, but frankly, a little overweight. She has a seal coat with minor white marking. This will be her third litter. I have learned a bit about coat color from Carly. Depending on her mate,, Carly is able to produce all the colors of the ES rainbow: black and white, seal, tri color and shaded and clear sable and the rarer "red" pup as well.
Carly was born on my Floyd County farm and lives here with her Sire, Laddie, daughter, Leah and pack mate Lilly. (See In Memorium for description of her beloved Dam, Elise, my first English Shepherd).
I have little interest in formal training, but I do know Carly is supersmart, super athletic, and super resilient. We have a wonderful bond. More than any other pup, I've caught Carly studying me since her eyes first opened. I have cats, ducks and chickens, and a multitude of wildlife. Carly was raised around goats, but they rehomed before she ever was needed to move them. She shares the duties of watching me care for the chickens and cats, guarding the immediate property, and patrolling the 60 acres. She alerts to birds of prey and does a fine job warding off coyotes, raccoons, deer, bear, and varmint control. Despite a general dearth of off farm experience, Carly deports herself well when she occasionally accompanies me to my counseling practice.
Johnson's Samuel Red Squier
DOB 06/29/2019 ESC # 6131 UKC # B281041
OFA "Good" at 32 mo. of age Full Embark Genetic panel: Clear
Johnson's Redmond Squier x Johnson's Lilly-Ann Squier
Predominant lines: Blacksheep and Wilson.
Sam is 23 inches at the shoulder, 63 pounds. Sam's coat is a curly clear sable with Irish markings.
I chose Sam to sire this litter because of a passing comment Cheryl Johnson made about his consistent good nature around people and other dogs. (Also, he shares no immediate relatives with Carly). But he is also very accomplished in agility and Citizenship. To quote Cheryl Johnson, his owner and breeder: "Sam actually has 30 USDAA agility titles and 2 UKC agility titles...Sam did obtain his AKC Canine Good Citizen and his UKC SPOT. Covid interfered with his taking the AKC Star Puppy and herding instruction....Both of his parents, Red and Lilly, are USDAA Agility Champions and Red has five and Lilly has seven agility UKC Grand Championships. Lilly's mother is also a UKC agility Grand Champion." His grand Dam is a certified therapy dog.
