Copper Valley Farms
The G-Litter puppies are here!
Carly's first litter arrived October 13, 2021! Carly is such a devoted mother! Truman is oblivious, but his contribution to the success of this litter is self evident. Eleven puppies with a wide range of colors: two clear sable girls, one shaded sable girl, at least two tricolors, male and female, each with full white ruffs. The remainder are lovely seal (dark brown) or black, all with white muzzles and blazes, some with heavy white ruffs. There are 6 females and 5 males. So far, they all impress me as strong, active, vocal little guys, as they jockey for a teat, and visibly plump up before my eyes. I know from their parents, they will carry forth the wonderful English Shepherd's traits of intelligence, biddability, and versatile workers, devoted companions.

Carly, DOB 7/15/2019. Carly was born here on the farm so this is my first second generation breeding. Carly represents the best of Jarrat, Piper, Wilson lines on her Dam Elise's side, and Cedar Creek and Butcher lines on her Sire, Laddie's side. Carly's coat is seal (dark brown) with white markings. At 54 pounds and 20 inches at the shoulder, Carly has a long, athletic body, solid muscle, and incredible stamina and resiliance. She is amazing in her jumping, climbing, and running ability. I chose to keep Carly because, from the age of three weeks, I would repeatedly find her staring at me, and observing, in detail, all I do. She also is very socially resilient, not needing to be an alpha, ready to submit to the big dogs and then jump right back in the (play) fight. Carly seems to carry her Dam's calm guarding and hunting ability. Carly wasn't old enough to move the goats, when we still had them, but she attended feeding rounds and slipped in their holding pen to steal food. She's learned to gently herd cats. Like all of my English Shepherds, Carly is biddable and loving. Negative for CEA and PRCD, clear/clear for MDR1, Carly's PennHip scores are .36/.35 with no evidence of osteoarthritis. Her elbows were also xrayed and assessed by VA Tech's vet school as having no evidence of arthritis.
Truman
"Over the Top, White Oak's Truman"
ESC-3473, UKC A879,733
Truman DOB: 10/22/2015.
Owned by Vickie McKinnie, and recommended by Rebecca Wingler, his breeder, Truman is obviously "a looker" whose pedigree goes back to Becca, a calm, sweet natured dog, with strong guarding, hunting abilities. Becca is also present in Carly's maternal line. Further back in Truman's pedigree.I I was pleased to see Dalby's Laddie, a founding dog for many of the farm collies with strong herding abilities. Dalby's Laddie is also heaviliy represented in Carly's Sire's side.
Truman is an open -faced Tricolor with prominant white markings. He is a trim 66 pounds and has been active in agility and evaluuaated positively for herding instincts. Vicki reports he loves to stay close to her and has a very loving nature, a regular "English Shadow"
Truman has excellent PennHIP scores of .25/.17 which means he is very low risk of developing hip dysplasia. He is Normal (Clear) for MDR1, CEA, and PRA/PRCD.
